Terry was temporarily medically retired for severe PTSD in February 2016 after over 16 years of active duty service in the Army. During his service he deployed three times, Iraq 2004-2005 (Sadr City, An Najaf, Fallujah), Iraq 2010 and Afghanistan 2012-2013. He was planning on serving at least 20 years, so his early retirement came as a surprise. Terry was in communications while in the Army but spent his early service years with the Infantry and Armor.

Terry is married to his wife, Rebecca, and together they have two boys, Kaelan, 18 and Logan, 15. He really enjoys the outdoors and nature; it is where he is most comfortable and feels the most at ease. He likes spending time with his family and exploring new places.

Terry heard about Warriors to Summits through a veteran, Paul Smith, who was part of Team Gannett Peak. He is hoping that this program will help him push through the block that he is in so he can figure out what it is he is going to do next. He also hopes it will give him the confidence and drive to pursue that dream once he figures it out. He is looking forward to meeting a new group of people and being part of a team.
