Service Headshot of Scott in his uniformScott enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1986 as a Private First Class, with his Military Occupational Specialty being 19D Cavalry Scout. He completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, KY and graduated in February 1987. His first duty station was Fort Carson, CO, where he served from February 1987 until September 1988. In October 1988, Scott arrived in West Germany, where he was stationed until October 1990. After leaving Germany, he bounced from station to station in Colorado, Germany, Washington, Georgia, Virginia, and South Korea. Scott was finally deployed to Iraq in 2003 where he stayed for a year. David retired as a Sergeant First Class in August 2007.

David is married to Shawn, and has two adult sons and one granddaughter. One of his sons, Philip, and his granddaughter, Lorraine, live nearby in Hope Mills, NC. His other adult son, Connor, resides in northeastern Florida. He and his wife also have a dachshund, Cricket, whom he inherited from his late father.

Through Warriors to Summit, he hopes to face and overcome the challenges presented with his mental and physical difficulties. Second, he hopes to find a new focus that can help him to better navigate his future. Third, he hopes to bond with other veterans and help them to face and overcome the challenges presented by their own personal difficulties.
