Current Residence: Anchorage, AK
Rachel served in the U.S. Air Force for six years. Her father was in the Army when she was young, she joined the Air Force at 19, she has also been Married to an Air Force member for 14 years.
Her time in the Military went from being an amazing time, working and serving with fellow members, to September 11th, changing her world. Rachel was 19 years old and working 14 hour days, 6-7 days a week at Ramstein, Germany. She watched hundreds of people say goodbye to each other as she helped load them on to the Aircraft. She did her job well, and it tore her up daily. Rachel was young, too young to see what she saw, and do what she did. She joined the military because it was what she knew, but it was not what her mind could handle. Rachel saw too many human remains, transfer cases downloaded, and helped download too many. She saw our soldiers in the Landstuhl hospital, the look of terror and fear in their eyes.
Rachel is now a Yoga teacher in Anchorage, AK, trying to help other veterans find peace in their own body. Her life has been a very large struggle in the past year and a half, as her service dog passed away unexpectedly. She has been practicing yoga, meditating and trying to get her life back, but she feels so alone without her service dog…
With Warriors to Summits Rachel hopes to find herself. She wants to find the courage she previously had and to find the strength to keep going on her path.Go back
