Janet Gonzalez

A native of Fajardo, Puerto Rico; Janet entered the Army Reserve via the delayed entry program in 1987. Upon completion of training, she returned to Puerto Rico and completed her degree in Social Work. Janet has been stationed all over the world, the list of her assignments and stations is long but include, among others: Material Storage and Holding Specialist, 597th Supply Company, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico; Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO), NCOIC, Germersheim, Germany; Liaison to all supported NATO Organizations in Italy, Greece and Turkey; Logistic Division G-4, Assistant Information Management Office, Camp Zama, Japan; and Medical Retention Process Case Manager, Medical Hold Company, Fort Bliss, Texas.

During deployment training Janet sustained multiple injuries to her left shoulder and right hip. After years of rehabilitation, to include learning to write and drive with an adaptive device, she medically retired from Fort Belvoir Warrior Transition Battalion in 2014.

On her free time, Janet volunteers as a Spanish translator for family members of wounded and deceased soldiers and as a Good Grief Camp Mentor at the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). Currently Janet resides in the Bronx and works for the Office of Child Protective Services.
