Amado “Buddy” Gracia
Branch of Service: United States Marine Corps
Currently Residing In: Cameron, NC
My Father was in the United States Air Force and we were lucky enough to primarily be stationed overseas in multiple foreign countries, which allowed me to experience many unique cultures. After returning to the states I joined the Unites States Marine Corps. I always knew that when I was old enough I wanted to join the US Marine Corps. I left for Marine Corp Recruit Depot (MCRD) in late 1996 and after 12 weeks at basic I headed to Camp Pendleton, California. Upon completion of my training I volunteered to be station with 2nd BN, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division and began an amazing and life-fulfilling career.
I was attached to 2/4, 1st Marine Division, 1/4, 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps WarFighting Laboratory (MCWL) MCB Quantico VA, Advanced Training Group I Marine Expeditionary Forces (IMEF), UNITAS II Marine Expeditionary Forces (IIMEF), and Deployment Processing Command.
I have always felt that defending our great nation is the highest of honors any American can be given and doing this as a US Marine was an even greater privilege. I served for 15 years with the loving support of my amazing daughter and wife, and upon leaving the service I have found that staying involved with fellow US veterans fills me with great pride. I volunteer to assist those who still serve and have served in the past and wish to continue to be a positive and active member of the US veterans community in the future.
